Cooper is an 8-year-old cat who is just a little bit different. Not in the way that he behaves - in that, he is just like any other cat. It's the way that he looks that seems to rub people the wrong way. The shelter where he stayed, Humane Society of Broward County (HSBC), said: “[He] might not be the prettiest kitty, but he doesn't need a filter to find love. No, he's not dirty, those are just his markings.” And we couldn't agree more. In fact, we would think that his unique looks should have gotten him more attention. But apparently, it was the wrong kind of “unique” for most.

Cooper is gentle, sweet and is used to living with humans. He has spent nearly his whole life in a home. He loves cuddles, is great with kids, other cats and gentle dogs. It was when his previous owner lost his home that Cooper's world turned on its head, bringing him into the hands of the shelter. Of course, the shelter knew that Cooper was kind and loving and that he would have been a great addition to any home, but they found that it was more difficult to find a home for him than expected - because people were put off by his markings.

The shelter even went as far as to publish that Bob L., a pawsome cat lover, paid off Cooper's adoption fee. But it was the attention online that finally got Cooper his new forever home. Cat people cannot stand for injustices against innocent felines. We are a real community with real power. And now, Cooper has his second chance at a happy life.
